- Sprinkle the cornstarch powder evenly over the meat mixture and stir well. Allow it to simmer for a few minutes until the liquid thickens up a bit. If you want a thicker filling, feel free to add a little more cornstarch!
Step 4: Mash those Potatoes
- While the meat simmers, prepare your mashed potatoes. You can use pre-made or make them from scratch by boiling potatoes, mashing them, and mixing in some butter, cream, salt, and pepper. For an extra kick, you can stir in some freshly grated Parmesan Reggiano.
Step 5: Assemble the Pie
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). In a baking dish, spread the venison and vegetable mixture evenly on the bottom. Spoon the creamy mashed potatoes over this layer, smoothing it out. Sprinkle with smoked paprika and extra Parmesan for extra flavor and a nice crust.

- Place the baking dish in the oven. Bake for about 25-30 minutes until the topping is golden and the filling is bubbling. Let it cool for a few minutes, then dig in!
